Chalk that one up to improved technology! A spill of that size would decimate the California coast and its fisheries--and the peripheral business in commuities that benefit from recreational fishing and tourism. The question regarding another spill off the California coast is not if, but when and how large. This gentelman is deluding himself and probably works in the oil industry or for PXP, the company that is trying to open up the first new drilling in California waters since the Santa Barabara oil spill in 1969. We say enough is enough. We do not want more oil drilling. Assemblymember Pedro Nava who represents Santa Barbara has been leading the charge to make sure that there is no new offshore oil and gas drilling. We must take stay vigilant in the face of the assualt from the oil industry and its high paid lobbyists.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5614976930070875833.post-74320627860149997952009-09-16T08:38:18.478-07:002009-09-16T08:38:18.478-07:00Drill here, drill now. I would remind you youngsters that during WWII ships of every sort of were sunk all over every ocean and sea. We could not stop to clean anything up. A war of survival was on. None the less, Mother Nature took care of it all with no assistance from humans. Natural oil tar leaks off of southern California have always occurred and the worst damage was getting some tar on your feet, especially around Pt. Fermin. The environmental extremists need to get a life and do something productive instead of being pawns for the socialists and other wackos.Dave Connell, Laguna Beachnoreply@blogger.com
